In observation of Constitution Day 2024, PFW’s Helmke Library, the Political Science Department, and Financial Aid are organizing a celebration of Constitution Day 2024 starting at noon on September 17 at Helmke Library.

Helmke Library will have tables set up in front of the library with different stations during the events:

• free pocket constitutions
• materials available from Helmke Library
• treats and water
• stickers and coloring pages
• Financial Aid will host US Constitution Trivia game opportunities.
• check-in desk for Civics Literacy event participation

Two different events are included in the celebrations that will serve as qualifying activities for the Civics Literacy event participation requirement.

• Political Science will be hosting a discussion panel at noon in the IdeaSpace: The Roberts Court & the Constitution, featuring PFW faculty members Benjamin Slomski, Ph.D Assistant Professor of Political Science & Campus Pre-Law Advisor and Georgia Wralstad Ulmschneider, JD, Professor Emeritus, Department of Political Science. The panel will be moderated by Mike Wolf, Professor & Chair, Department of Political Science, Acting Director, Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics.

• A staged reading of the U.S. Constitution by members of the PFW community will take place at 2pm in front of Helmke Library, with various other activities to celebrate this important document.

For Civics Literacy credit:

Please bring your Mastodon card or have your 900 number ready. Make sure to check in at the Civics Literacy table before the event. After attending, you'll receive a notification in Brightspace to complete a reflection on the event. This reflection is required for full credit for your attendance.
